To that end, he acquired extensive orchards in a valley known for excellent growing conditions and planted seedlings brought from the historic Damder groves.
Until then, the orchards were not Jewish-owned and only small quantities of etrogim were purchased. A new era of commercial-scale export began under Rav Dahan’s personal supervision, enabling many more communities to enjoy the distinctive beauty of the Moroccan etrog. Rav Dahan supplies Jewish communities in France, across Europe and in the United States, drawing on more than 30 years of experience in cultivation, import and distribution.

Rav Dahan assembled and trained a skilled agricultural team to care for this sensitive crop. Because etrog cultivation requires meticulous attention and constant supervision, he remains in close contact with the growers and travels to Morocco several times a year to oversee every delicate stage of cultivation and ensure that the etrogim grow beautiful, healthy and clean.
He also developed a dedicated irrigation system that waters each tree according to its precise needs. Every fruit is protected from nearby branches, and pest control is carefully measured so it does not leave marks. The etrogim are supervised by the Satmar Rabbinical Association of the United States and Canada. Each year, Rav Dahan presents select etrogim to leading Torah authorities in Israel.
This distinctive import is under the kashrut supervision of Rabbi Moshe Brandsdorfer.

Rav Michael Reich, an alumnus of Yeshivas Ma'alos HaTorah, later began importing and distributing Moroccan etrogim in Israel. His connection to these etrogim began with small quantities for himself, close friends and distinguished Torah scholars, including Rabbi Yehoshua Eichenstein.
As demand among meticulous buyers grew, Rav Reich travelled to Morocco to be present at the selection and grading stages, personally inspecting every etrog to meet the exacting standards expected in Israel.
With a deep sense of privilege and responsibility, Rav Reich established a nationwide network of trusted Torah scholars in Jerusalem, northern and central Israel. They receive special training in the careful handling required to keep every etrog kosher and unblemished, bringing distinguished Moroccan etrogim to meticulous customers throughout the country.

The etrogim then pass through a complex import process involving the Ministries of Health and Agriculture, inspections and additional pest control. Rav Reich remains involved throughout, ensuring that the fruit is protected and arrives at the right time.
Rav Reich has had the privilege of bringing select etrogim to many of the leading Torah authorities of the generation, including Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach, Rabbi David Abuchatzira, Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch and many other esteemed rabbinical leaders.
